AL Assist Ltd (UK) was established in 2005 by Director, Andrew C Boardman. In 2007, the business moved to Australia and became AL Assist Pty Ltd.
With over 25 years of senior leadership experience in public / private businesses in the developed and developing world, he identified the clear opportunity there is for the provision of no-nonsense, practical business performance improvement services and project management support for any business - large, medium or small.
We are well qualified to lead in the business of making a difference, having taken diverse businesses through periods of intense upheaval and change with profitable and equitable results and delivered some significant infrastructure and business improvement projects.
We have enjoyed working with some of the leading businesses world-wide in intensive / extensive Agri/Horticulture, FMCG & Oil & Gas and, latterly, our Director undertook a long-term leadership assignment in Local Government as an employee (as required under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1999).
We enjoy the challenges associated with creating and implementing innovative strategies to manage the way we face / respond to social, economic, environmental and technological pressures that drive change.

inception to delivery
From building the initial business case, grant funding applications (where available) through design, consultation, financial investment decision, to construction / implementation and project completion, our Consultants have the experience to deliver.
2016-18 Kangaroo Island Airport Upgrade Project - $21M Commonwealth / State / Council-funded project. Brown-field upgrade of all Airside infrastructure, new Terminal integration with existing infrastructure & associated services. Recognised with three National Awards in 2018 & nominated for a World Architecture Festival Award at the 2018 Festival hosted in the Netherlands. Successfully negotiated the provision of new air services from Adelaide and Melbourne (direct) with Qantas (commencing in December 2017).
2015-17 Penneshaw Community Wastewater Management Scheme - $5.2M State Govt / Council-funded project to install a reticulated sewage scheme and wastewater treatment plant in the seaside town. Delivered in scope, quality & budget. Incorporates 50KW solar / battery/ diesel hybrid, off-grid power solution for waste treatment plant.
2012-13 Airport Solar Icon Project - $500,000 installation of 50KW tracking solar providing power to Airport & distributed network of electric vehicles chargepoints. First location in Australia to offer commercial hire of EV's and then Plug-in Hybrids (since copied in Adelaide & Canberra).
2005-2006 Design & Implementation of British Retail Consortium / Retailer-specific Fresh Produce Production & Quality Assurance documentation & s for large, integrated salad production / import business from Paddock to Plate.

Business analysis and reviews - whether all of business or particular elements - we deep dive into the issues then, in conjunction with stakeholders, build practical solutions that address bottlenecks, lack of systemisation thus reducing inefficiencies and boosting staff engagement, output and profitability.
2007-2010 Oil Search PNG Ltd (OSL) - Led the development & implementation of a Performance Improvement Program for an Oil & Gas Major in Papua New Guinea. Initially in OSL Supply Chain, successful outcomes led to a whole of business approach to performance improvement as a prelude to the organisation implementing the PNG LNG Project in partnership with Exxon and Santos.
2011-2018 Kangaroo Island Council - Our Director (as an employee of the Council under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1999) led the development & implementation of an organisation-wide culture change program to re-engage Staff and Community for Delivery through Partnership initiatives. Better than budget performance delivered with unqualified external audits from FY 2011-12 to 2017-18 with long-term financial planning indicating financial sustainability achieveable by 2023.

Critical to business performance improvement is access to good quality & timely management information.
Creating reporting systems for business units to easily prepare & analyse core information is a first step to improving understanding of the pennies in the business - look after these and the pounds look after themselves. Saving money and lifting margins is often far easier to achieve quickly than building sales - both are essential for long-term sustainability, however saving costs puts money in the bank now, helping build budget for sales & marketing activities for future revenues.
Understanding the minutiae really helps in this respect.
Understanding business performance from perspective of the customer / client is also vital to maintaining satisfaction, building greater engagement & commitment and ultimately profitability.
